mummi h

Hi! A bit about me…I’m from England, right in the middle in lovely Derbyshire. I’m married to a hunky chunky Aussie and am mother to three wonderful children. As a family we moved to the beautiful Gold Coast in Australia (I say mostly as hubby has just come home after a few years away!).

I love rocks, the outdoors, and the beauty of nature, the ocean (from a distance or in a boat but not swimming in it!) and I especially love my family and friends.

I don’t drink tea or coffee, I can’t stand Vegemite or Marmite, I’m a recovering diet Pepsi addict and I love a good giggle.

I don’t take life too seriously and I try to look for the positives in every situation. I treat people as I wish to be treated myself and I think if we all lived by that rule the world would be a much nicer place.

I’m not entirely sure where I’m heading in life but I don’t mind as I’m enjoying the journey!

So….how did I end up becoming a mummigrant?

I guess it all started in 99 when I came to Oz backpacking. Armed with my geology degree and buckets full of enthusiasm and optimism I planned to join the fast moving well paid mining industry.

It didn’t quite work out like that and fate had a different idea! After only 2 weeks in the country I met my man and although I didn’t believe it could happen it was love at first sight (you know, the thunderbolt moment from four weddings and a funeral – altogether now say ahhh!).

Anyway, we were inseparable from that point on and 16 months later back in England we married. The intention was always to come straight back and live in Oz and fast forward 11 years, 3 kids and a few bumps in the road we are finally here!

It’s tricky for us because we are from opposite sides of the planet and one or the other of our families will always miss out.

This place however is where I feel at home and I’m lucky in a way to have the opportunity to start again from scratch as we build our new lives here.
